New Year celebrations are happening all around the country at casinos this year. Get away from your usual haunts and see what New Zealand has to offer. Of New Zealand’s five casinos, four have New Year festivities planned. Christchurch Casino, Grand Casino Dunedin, SkyCity Auckland and SkyCity Hamilton are sure to have something to tantalise you with.
Sadly, this year SkyCity Queenstown has no New Year’s Eve bash planned for the public. We’re sure their high-rollers lounge will be catering to the VIPs though. So if that’s you, you can still head along for a night of fun.
Christchurch Casino
New Zealand’s oldest casino is disco dancing the New Year in, with a 1970’s disco-inspired theme and cash prizes! There will be nine prize draws of $1,000 each from early evening until 1 am on New Year’s Day. Five of the draws will be available to all attendees but the other four will only be for members who have logged points within the hour prior to each draw.
Patrons are encouraged to dress to the theme! Time to get out those bell-bottoms and platform shoes.
Disco Fever will be spread across three different music zones on New Year’s Eve; The Foyer, the Main Gaming Floor, and the Skylark Lounge. Live music and DJs begin at 7 pm in The Foyer and 6 pm in the other two zones.
DJ Eric will be playing 70’s tunes in the Foyer from 7 pm until 11 pm. Rockabella will play from 6 pm on the Main Gaming Floor, and Third Time Lucky will take over from them at 9:30 pm. The Skylark Lounge has DJ Steve spinning records from 6 until 10 pm, and then Black and Gold will get everyone dancing from 10 pm until late.

Grand Casino Dunedin
The Grand has Dubious Groove bringing in the New Year with live music on the gaming floor. They’re boasting that it will be the biggest party in town, with $12,000 in prizes to be won. The draws will be from 10 pm, with three x $3,000 cash draws after the New Year Countdown on New Year’s Day.
Entrants to the draws don’t have to be a casino member, just rock up and countdown to be in for a win.
SkyCity Auckland
The SkyTower New Year’s Eve fireworks are happening again this year, ringing in 2024 with a bang. Revellers outside will be able to enjoy the night-time display.
Flare, in the heart of SkyCity Auckland, will have live music all night. Head to Flare for the Midnight Countdown. DJs and musicians will be playing two or three-hour sets from 4:30 pm on New Year’s Eve. Two Many Chefs and Saxsophone will be entertaining the room after the Countdown until 2 am.
Most of the casino’s signature restaurants are serving up special New Year’s Eve menus. Patrons are spoilt for choice, the only problem will be which restaurant to choose!
SkyCity Hamilton
Hamilton’s casino is throwing a party and will be making a fuss for the New Year’s Countdown! Amuse Bar and Kitchen will be hosting live music from 8:30 pm with the Ra Charmian Band and Gemma Celeste. Guests will be able to dance on after Midnight, so head along if you want to bring in 2024 in style!
